Remote play feels meaningfully different from passive viewing
You control the laser from the app by moving your finger on screen, and Petcube also describes scheduled play. For a cat or dog that reliably follows the dot, this creates an interaction a monitoring-only camera cannot reproduce.
The fixed lens is unusually wide
The 160° field of view captures more of the room from one position than many basic fixed cameras. It does not physically rotate like the Cam 360, but careful placement can reduce blind areas.
Basic live viewing works without a paid plan
Petcube Care is optional. Live streaming remains available on the free level; paid plans add video history, longer clips, smart alerts, downloads, filters, and other benefits that vary by plan.
Five limitations to understand first
- Laser interest is not universal. Some pets chase it immediately; others ignore it or become frustrated. Observe your pet and pair play with a tangible finish—such as a toy or reward—when appropriate.
