Affiliate Disclosure
A plain-English explanation of how this publication may earn money and how that relationship affects our recommendations.
Last updated: August 13, 2026Current affiliate status
Existing product buttons lead directly to official manufacturer websites and do not currently pay The Smart Pet Edit. If monetized links are introduced, they will be identified with clear disclosures.
How affiliate links will work
After approval by a merchant or affiliate network, selected outbound links may include a tracking identifier. If a qualifying purchase occurs within the merchant’s attribution rules, the merchant may pay us a commission.
Editorial independence
A higher commission does not automatically make a product our pick. We evaluate pet fit, safety information, daily maintenance, ownership cost, privacy, warranty, returns, and credible owner-feedback patterns. We disclose when an assessment is based on specifications rather than hands-on testing.
Placement of disclosures
When monetized links are activated, a clear disclosure will appear near recommendations and before affiliate links—not only on this page. Sponsored content, gifted products, or other material relationships will be labeled separately if they ever occur.
No added cost
Affiliate compensation is paid by the merchant. It does not add a separate fee to the reader’s checkout. The final price and transaction remain controlled by the merchant.
